As I wished, I made my first tour to the world famous Amazon forest. We spent every week at the Pousada Uacari inside the Mamiraua Sustainable Growth Reserve, which is the main hart of your Brazilian UNESCO listed the main Amazon. As I didn't aim for the wrong practical knowledge like scuzzlebutt explained above, I chose the one that seemed to give you a genuine experience and as it is each UNESCO listed also (as the label says) a sustainable development reserve (which ensures that basically it is mostly run by local shop and income goes to locals, and preservation from the whole is an important! ) we are not disappointed!
Amazon River |
We went there by taking any boat or routes from Manaus to be able to Tefe and from Tefe it is about 2 a long time by boat all over again.
We had an entire week and started out very early daily, then breakfast, calming, lunch and later over the afternoon again about the water or into a village etc. Basic but comfortable is actually great food also! The tours ranged from villages to research centres for sea food and dolphins, going in a canoe across the flooded forest (was June, high water), hanging out in a hut above water and wait for that monkeys to display. We saw plenty of birds, monkeys (howler, and the famous White Uacari! ), dolphins, bumblebees, snakes etc and so forth. Amazing place!
